We are grateful for your support, through prayer and donations, as well as spreading the word about NCCS to your family and friends. It is our desire to have a greater impact for the Kingdom. With support from people, such as yourself, who value the mission of North Clackamas Christian School, that can be possible.
As with most private Christian schools, tuition does not cover the full cost associated with general operations. So, financial support is a crucial part of our success. We utilize our Annual Fund giving to bridge this gap and help us achieve greatness for our students!
In order to have our school building open to staff and students during COVID, we need to ensure adequate ventilation and air filtration in our buildings. Last year we started the process of identifying our needs in this area and concluded that a new HVAC system would need to be installed in the main building and the 200 building off the gym, based on insufficient heat and air conditioning in the classrooms. For the past two months we have adequately provided fresh air with opening windows and doors, and run our portable HEPA air filtration units in each classroom and office space. What we currently have in our buildings is safe, but not efficient and certainly not the highest quality HVAC. Financial donations have been made (pre-COVID) specific to this area of need. We have secured bids for the project and the board has given its approval to move forward. We expect to complete Phase 1 (main building-elementary) of this project in December. With support from multiple donors, we have funds ($79,000) to complete Phase 1 and partial for phase 2 of the project. It is our desire to move on to Phase 2 (200 building-secondary) soon after, but an additional $20,000 is needed to complete this project.
In the news you may have heard about special funding that has been marked for schools during COVID, in order to purchase personal protective equipment (PPE) and technology, improve air quality, and enhance (remote) learning. North Clackamas Christian School, and all other private schools, will not receive those funds based on court and government blocks to those sources. We have had to use our own resources (out of the Annual Fund budget) and funds from a few kind private donors, to provide for the increased needs 2020-21 has presented. We purchased mobile technology teaching stations for every classroom, added to our Chromebook inventory, secured enough PPE for the school, purchased HEPA air filtration units for every room, and increased cleaning and sanitation with professional grade services and materials. We have implemented these measures with no increases in fees to parents and without any government support. We also had to reduce our enrollment numbers to meet room capacity requirements, and some families have withdrawn due to COVID, so we are operating with lower enrollment income. These factors contribute to another area of need, the support of our General Fund so that we can meet our financial obligations throughout the school year. The amount needed to support the school in this effort totals $30,000. We will need to make budget reductions to cover these expenses without help from other sources. Would this be an area where you would be able to support NCCS? Thank you for considering this area of need.
We are in the process of improving our playground at NCCS. A generous donor has given (pre-Covid) toward half the overall cost of this project. So we are well on our way to construct a covered play area and improve the equipment for students to enjoy in the years to come. To complete this project with the total necessary funding ($100,000), we are inviting our community to be involved through a “Brick Campaign”. The bricks will be incorporated into the playground and serve as a lasting memory for all to enjoy. Go to https://www.fundraisingbrick.com/online-orders/nccs/, to order a personalized brick. The bricks make an unique gift for birthdays, graduation, anniversaries, as a thank you to someone special, and much more. We also welcome direct donations beyond the option to purchase a brick.
